Congregation Ohev Beth Sholom is a Reform Jewish temple in Youngstown, Ohio. Following the November 2021 merger, traditional services were also added to our weekly schedule. Currently, Reform services are offered on Friday evenings, and more traditional services are offered on Saturday mornings.

We are located at 1119 Elm Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44505. Founded in 1867, Rodef Sholom (“Pursuers of Peace”) is the oldest Jewish congregation in Youngstown. Our synagogue, with its awe-inspiring Sanctuary that seats 550 people, was dedicated in 1915.

Our congregation is dedicated to social justice, community development, and ensuring the social and spiritual needs of our congregants and the greater community are met through our services and programming.

Ohev Beth Sholom is affiliated with the Reform Movement through the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). We use the Mishkan T’Filah Prayer book with many contemporary English readings, as well as the traditional Hebrew. Our Saturday morning services use the Siddur Sim Shalom prayer books.

There is truly something for everyone at Congregation Ohev Beth Sholom. Whether you are “just visiting” or considering joining us as new members, it is our pleasure to welcome you to Ohev Beth Sholom.
